War Corner

Hello friends! Today I want to share about special place in my home. A place that I visit every morning. A place that is full of prayer, peace, grace, reflection, learning, and forgiveness. Welcome to my “war corner.”

Do you remember the movie War Room for a few years ago?

That movie made such an impression on me! I walked away from that movie with a desire to pray more than ever. I have had the pleasure of listening to Karen Ambercrombie (who plays Miss Clara in the movie) speak at a women’s conference and she is just as phenomenal off screen as she is on screen. She is so strong and courageous and shouts her love for Jesus from the mountain tops. I also have read Priscilla Shirer’s (who plays Elizabeth Jordan in the movie) book FerVent…an amazing book! In the book she helps you think about a game plan for your prayer life…how and what to pray for your kids, your husband, for you and your daily struggles. It’s a phenomenal read. Take a peek here👇🏻

I was convicted that I needed to pray more. I gathered my tools. My books, my weapons and battle plans…if you will…to take on the enemy. But I needed a place to do battle. In the movie, Elizabeth’s special place, her “war room” was a closet. She emptied her closet of clothes, made a place where she could focus, opened her bible and her heart and prayed. I knew I wanted something similar. While I don’t have a closet to spare, I decided to put a small corner desk in the corner of our office that was just for me. Once we got the office remodeled, I went hunting for a desk. I found this one and love it! It has a small lamp, candle, pretty pictures, and holds all my bibles and devotionals. I have a dry erase board where I write down my goal verse and a list of prayer requests.

Every morning, I light my candle, grab some coffee and meet with Jesus. I am always the first one up so the house is still and quiet. I do my devotional, and think and meditate over the day and the current happenings in our lives. I have learned the hard way that if I don’t make time with Jesus at the beginning of every day…it goes down hill fast. It doesn’t take long…maybe 20 minutes. I try to be with Jesus all day long but I have 20 minutes a day to sit down and be still and rest and empty my worries and stresses to him. He is totally my rock and without him I am nothing.

“Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. And pray…”(Ephesians 6:18-19 NLT)

My prayer is you will find a way to be with Jesus today, and maybe start to make it a habit! A good habit! I pray you feel God’s love wrapped around you.
